Services Company Profile: American Express has been active in
Singapore since 1925 when we opened one of our first travel
offices in Asia. Since then, we have expanded the scope of
our business to include consumer cards, corporate cards,
foreign exchange services, travelers cheques, business
travel and merchant travel services.
The
eighties brought significant expansion of American
Express' activities in Singapore, starting with the
launch of the Gold Card in 1983. Later in 1998, we
introduced the first platinum card in Singapore. We
also launched a DBS-American Express network card in
1999.
More recently, we launched the Centurion Card in
2005 and the American Express Platinum Reserve
Credit Card in 2008, thus forming the American
Express Platinum Series - a set of 3 cards including
the platinum charge card and credit card which meets
the evolving lifestyle needs of cardmembers.
American Express has a strong family of co-brand
cards with Singapore Airlines. In July 2009, we
launched the American Express Singapore Airlines
Solitaire PPS Credit Card. This is on top of our
existing Kris Flyer Gold and Platinum Cards.
As a socially responsible corporate citizen, we
encourage our staff to volunteer at local charities
by contributing donations through our Global
Volunteer Action Fund and American Express
Foundation. For 2008 and 2009, we will be helping
with the elderly at Asian Women's Welfare
Association, the children at Assisi Hospice,
Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN)
and Willing Hearts through providing food for the
destitute.
