SIPMM
Academy is the educational arm of the Singapore
Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management.
The institute publishes the Singapore Purchasing
Managers' Index (PMI) on a monthly basis. The
Singapore PMI has become a key barometer of the
Singapore manufacturing economy and has been highly
sought after by local and international news
agencies, banks, investment and stock-broking firms.
The Singapore PMI is published monthly in the major
language press media, such as The Straits Times, The
Business Times, The New Paper, Chinese Daily News
LianHe ZaoBao and the Malay Daily News Berita Harian.
The index is also reported regularly in the
international media, as well as economic and
research agencies worldwide. In addition, the
Channel News Asia and News Radio 93.8 also broadcast
the monthly news release of the index.
SIPMM ACADEMY provides a wide range of structured
academic courses in business management,
international business, accounting and finance,
engineering management, logistics and supply chain
management, and purchasing and materials management.
Courses are offered at Certificate, Diploma, and
Advanced Diploma level. Most of these courses are
approved for grants by the government's Skills
Development Fund.
SIPMM ACADEMY started out as an educational arm of
the professional institute of SIPMM, which was
established in 1972, about 42 years ago. Today, the
courses at SIPMM ACADEMY are widely accepted by the
industries and business organisations. SIPMM
graduates are granted advanced standings in
universities such as the Birmingham University (UK),
Sunderland University (UK), and Southern Cross
University (Australia).
The Academy has an extended corporate training and
consulting arm, that conducts Professional and
Executive development workshops on a regular basis.
These regular workshops are either organised as (1)
Public Training Workshops, conducted in hotels; or
customised as (2) In-Company Focused Trainings,
delivered at premises decided by the companies.
The focus of each workshop topic is on the
development of either professional or execution
skill; such as negotiation, cost-savings strategy,
warehousing, trade operations, purchasing
operations, contract law, supply chain management,
supplier management, strategic procurement, global
sourcing, integrated logistics management, tender
evaluation and contract management.
The office of SIPMM ACADEMY and its various training
rooms are conveniently located at Bukit Merah
Central. With a total size of 425 square metres, our
7 comfortably-designed training rooms are
fully-equipped with the modern training equipments.
On average, each of these training rooms can
accommodate up to 55 participants with an average
teacher-participant ratio of 1:20. Currently, our
teaching faculty comprises a pool of 30 part-time
experienced practitioners and academia with the
accredited academic qualifications and professional
competence. SIPMM ACADEMY also has its own resource
library that maintains specialised books, journals
and publications relating to business management,
accounting & finance, logistics & supply chain
management, as well as purchasing & materials
management. The library is not open to public and is
