The
Singapore Futsing Association was established in the
year 1910. The association was founded by 11 local
Futsing Clan led by Mr. Zhuang Rui. With donations
collected from the Futsing Clan, the Futsing
Association purchased 5 shop houses at the Queens
Street,where two were used as association premises
and the others were rented out.
In 1932, Futsing Association had financially
supported the establishment of the Poi Ching School
and the establishment of the Ren Ji (??) hospital
where consultation and treatment were free of charge
for the Futsing Clan. The hospital was closed in
1941 due to the invasion of Japanese Army but it was
reopened on October 1945 by the Association.
Many records and documents of the association were
destroyed during 2nd World War. The members of
association took a lot of effort to reorganize the
association after the war and a board council was
reappointed in 1946. In early 70s, the association
buildings situated at Queens Street were very
rundown and lack of space for the operation of the
association.
In 1975, initiated by then President of the
association, Mr. Lim Dijt Sun, the association
bought a piece of land at the No.2 Allenby Road to
build a new association building, which is the
current association building. The president and the
council members took a great effort to raise fund
for the construction of the association building.
In 1988, a five story building was built and it was
jointly opened by Mr. Ong Teng Cheong, then
President of Singapore, and Mr. Liem Swie Liong
Since then, the Futsing Association has progress
well and it has helped many local Futsing Clan and
immigrants from Futsing to feel at home in
Singapore.
