Despite
this wide range, the different crane systems were
effectively organized according to type and safe
working load (SWL) , thus resulting in
cost-effective maintenance with the advantage of
monitoring the systems for the customer, hence less
maintenance costs.
With this strong advantage, Cimmerian Crane Services
grew to become the top service crane company in
Singapore and was recognized for her efforts.
Privatised on the 12th July 1994, Cimmerian Crane
Services was renamed Cimmerian Crane Services Pte
Ltd. In that same year, ABUS cranes from Germany
approached the company and a service agreement were
signed between both parties, that Cimmerian Crane is
to service all ABUS Cranes in Singapore as well as
Johor Bahru in Peninsular Malaysia as well as
install all new systems sold by ABUS, hence another
feather in our cap.
Also in 1994, we opened our sales department and
took on the role of Authorised Distributor for ABUS
Crane System in Singapore, thus making us more
competitive in the local market.
The year 1995 saw us launch a new advantage to the
numerous ones we already have over our competitors.
The 24 hours, round-the-clock break-down service was
introduced and was proven a success as most
companies running three shifts a day turned to us
with opened arms. Furthermore, more crane
manufacturers around the world began taking notice
of our capabilities and came to us to market their
respective products. However, our loyalty to ABUS is
second to none, hence we declined.
The year 1996 saw us broaden our range of
operations. We began sales and servicing customers
in Brunei, Saipan (located in Micronesian Islands)
and many islands in the Indonesian Waters. That same
year saw us launch our three hours maximum response
time for an ad hoc break-down call upon activation.
Another feat unchallenged by our competitors until
today.
The year 1999 was the most successful year for
Cimmerian Crane up to date. We became the sole-agent
for ABUS in Singapore, Batam, Bintan & Johor Bahru
effectively 1st July 1999. In this same year, ABUS
had also launched their new range of portable
electric chain hoists for light duty use (230v AC)
and we were the privileged company to be appointed
the right to test and sell in the region. Cimmerian
Crane had also passed the stringent test for
application of marketing radio control systems by
TAS (Telecom Authority of Singapore, now IDA) and is
now licensed to market and repair radio remote
control systems. In the year 2001, Cimmerian Crane
officially opened another division to service the
hydraulic crane sector. This move allowed us to
become a ‘one-stop shop’ for most lifting
requirements needs, both locally as well as on
foreign soil. Once again, this is a Singapore First
and we are proud to be the one and only company to
achieve this, able to service and repair literally
ALL types of cranes.

Load Testing and Visual Inspection
Performing Visual Inspections and Load-Test works by
a Certified PE on your crane is a mandatory step by
the Ministry of Manpower. All cranes and hoists must
be Visually Inspected annually; and Load-Tested at
125% of capacity every four (4) years before they
are allowed to operate officially. These inspections
help ensure that your crane is performing well
within the safety tolerances set by the manufacturer
and Statutory Board, thus helping to improve safety
and prolong the cranes lifespan. Understanding such
significant mandatory steps that have to be met
requires a certain high level of expertise; and we
