Singapore Primary School founded in 1915 by Wang Huiyi,
a Supervisor of
Schools with the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuah (SHHK); member
of the N2
Cluster of schools.
Year
2010 has been a successful one with our P6 cohort
achieving an impressive 80.1% eligible for Express
course at the secondary level, highest since 2003.
This year, thanks to the strong support that our
parents have given to our pupils, up to 99% of our
Primary 6 pupils will take at least one subject at
the standard level, the highest since subject-based
banding was first implemented in 2008. At the
Primary 5 level, we also have a record proportion of
pupils taking Higher Mother Tongue Languages. We
want to congratulate our pupils and thank the
support of parents in encouraging our pupils in
stretching themselves academically.
Year 2011 will be an exciting one as we build on the
foundation that we have laid over the years.
Character development continues to take centre stage
as we inculcate in our pupils important values and
habits that will help them grow into gracious
members of our society through yearly camps and
other school activities. We will also be expanding
our repertoire of assessment methods to provide a
richer reflection of our pupils’ learning beyond
just the pen-and-paper tests. The use of portfolios
will be implemented in Primary 1 and 2 this year as
a systematic way to consolidate pupils’ learning and
showcase their exemplary works.
This year, the school will also be embarking on a
major upgrading work to enhance our infrastructure
so that we can operate as a single-session school by
the year 2013, with greater flexibility in terms of
time and space for our programmes.
