Classification Society (CCS) is the only specialized
organization of China to provide classification services.
CCS aims
to provide services for the shipping, shipbuilding,
offshore exploitation and related manufacturing
industries and marine insurance by furnishing
reasonable and reliable classification requirements
and providing independent, impartial and integral
classification and statutory services to ships and
offshore installations, for the promotion and
safeguarding of the safety of life and property at
sea and for the prevention of pollution to the
marine environment.
CCS is one of the ten full members of the
International Association of Classification
Societies (IACS), and chaired IACS Council
respectively in 1996-1997 and 2006-2007. Its highest
class notation has been included in the
Classification Clauses of the Institute of London
Underwriters (ILU).Up to the end of 2010, CCS had
been authorized by governments of 28 countries or
regions to perform statutory surveys for the ships
flying their flags. CCS is also the associate
members to the International Association of Dry
Cargo Shipowners (INTERCARGO) and the International
Association of Independent Tankers Owners (INTERTANKO).
CCS has established 58 branches/offices both at home
and abroad, forming a global service network.By the
end of 2010,CCS classed fleet is 2485 ships totaling
42.72 million gross tonnage.
CCS defines its business nature as "Risk Management"
and focuses on "four major business lines and two
supporting systems," featuring ship classification,
domestic ship inspection¡¢Offshore Engineering
service and industrial services¡ªthe four major
business lines, and the rules & research and the
information technology services¡ªthe two supporting
systems. By sticking to the policy of building a
first-rate international classification society with
unique characteristics upon technology and trust,
CCS is striving to forge a quality brand and has
made remarkable achievements.
CCS Industrial Division is composed of Industrial
Product Dept., Offshore Engineering Dept., and China
Classification Society Industrial Corporation (CCSI)
and China Classification Society Quality Assurance
Ltd. (CCSC)
CCSI is a company of CCS engaging in supervision and
inspection of engineering equipments, enterprise
management consulting, technological development,
machinery equipment repairing, non-destructive
testing service, personnel training and technical
consulting service, and has successively obtained
the Category-A qualification for supervision issued
by the Ministry of
Communications of China, the Approval Certificate
for monitoring and evaluation issued by CNOOC, and
BSI quality system certificate. CCSI has established
8 subsidiaries in the major domestic coastal cities,
and run joint ventures on insurance and risk
management respectively with British Thomas Miller
and American ABS. A joint representative office has
been established by CCSI and CSOC in Greece, further
enhancing foreign exchanges and friendly cooperative
relationship.
CCSC was among the first management system
certification bodies that were approved
domestically. CCSC can perform QMS, EMS and OHSMS
certifications with accreditation from CNAB and
CNASC . It has also obtained the accreditation from
UKAS to perform QMS certification. CCSC provides the
customers with the certification service of ISO9000,
ISO14000, and ISO18000 quality assurance systems.
Industrial service system implements CCS' ideology
of ¡°Three Serves¡± in the traditional marine
services, that is, serve the public, serve the
government and serve the market, as well as her
management mode, experience and methodology. By
making full use of CCS' advantages in manpower,
management, service network, technology and
research, CCS industrial service adheres to its
third party and impartial status to meet the demand
of the market by providing all-round, specialized,
high quality and high efficiency technical services,

4. Inspection and Repair of Life Raft and
Fire-fighting Appliances
Inspection and repairing of life raft and
fire-fighting equipment is CCSI's traditional
business with a history of over 20 years. Life raft
servicing stations are distributed at major domestic
ports, including Dalian, Tianjin, Qinhuangdao,
Qingdao, Yantai, Lianyungang, Ningbo, Nanjing,
Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhanjiang and Hainan. All these
subsidiaries of CCSI have got the qualification for
inspection and repairing of life raft, and formed a
unified business network.
