The club as it is known today, started in 1936 as
the Changi Garrison Yacht Club, by a group of
British soldiers from the royal engineers stationed
here before World War II. Today it is known for
having produced notable Singaporean sailors such as
Benedict Tan, Siew Shaw Her, and Teo Wee Chin.
